A few new friends

I have some new kids in my doll collection. First, is Claudia, she's so pretty. Her character, temperament and constant youth are based on the vampire Claudia, from "Interview with a Vampire". Here she is already at her second doll meet, standing next to Rose, who is wearing her "uber fluffy" dress and holding Lambchop.

Here is my hungry little Bunbun. Her character is not very mysterious. She just likes to eat. Here she is irritating the hell out of Lucien.

And more recently, this is Lambchop. I modified his eyes to be larger and painted his face. All this, and he hasn't told me more about himself yet. But he's only been with me a week, so I forgive the little one.

I love them all!
I had a lovely time at the Dolpa in NYC. Even though I didn't get an angel or the one off I wished for, I am getting the limited boy Irvin, and learned a lot in the face up class, and got to hang out with my best friend Joy all weekend.
Animenext went well, but at the same time, I am glad it's the last year I'm staffing it.

oh boy, I'm so looking forward to the dolpa this weekend! I really hope to get some more pretty boy dolls. The limited is very good looking, but one of my dream dolls is a Volk's Williams. Sometimes they show up as one-offs, I've seen it happen. I love the expressive face. I know I'm probably going to break the bank this weekend if I can. And Joy is coming over this weekend to enable my doll fetish! yay!

Souldoll is a very good company!

Color me pleased :) Here's my story.
I purchased a souldoll vernejet named Lucien about 11 months ago from an authorized reseller for Souldoll. I've enjoyed him all this time, thinking his inability to stand was a "quirk" because bjd's are handmade. At a meetup in March, I came across someone's gorgeous Paris doll (who had the same "old type" souldoll boy body) and examined the two closely together. Imagine my dismay when I realized my precious doll had a leg that was bent at an odd angle. I emailed the webmaster/whoever at souldoll about this issue with a shitton of pictures, but never heard back. Then I got the nerve to post to their care board---bingo. Turns out they didn't get my email, so after a few back and forths between us, I agree to mail the body back to Seoul. A few anxious days later, I asked for and got confirmation they had received it. They ended up doing a good repair, free, and are sending me back the body free! So, long story short, they have great customer service and are willing to help. I plan on getting another one of their beautiful dolls later this year. I'm thrilled that this doll doesn't need a new body and that they fixed him.

Is this a Bathroom, or a conversation hot spot?

Something that drives me nuts is that the ladies bathrooms, no matter where, are conversation hot spots for some. Why? Women actually congregate there...and talk...sometimes for several minutes. There's one woman in the building where I work that uses her toilet stall as her personal phone booth. It honestly grosses me out, because people are in there, making noises, etc...and here she is, telling her real estate agent she wants 2 bedrooms, not one. I'm absolutely certain people can tell where she is, because of flushing noises and such in the background. I guess some women see it as a private place, but honestly, I'm sure there's someplace less smelly and noisy to hold a conversation. If men don't talk to each other in the bathroom as a social rule (homophobic much? lol!), why can't we take the idea? Anyway, that's my rant, lol! Ladies, let's find another place to speak our minds, ;)

My girl Cristal is shipping, on her way, yadda yadda! She should be here Thursday and I'm really hoping she is because I'm not working Friday and I'd hate to have to have my boss tell me my doll is at work and I'm not and I'm going to be a damn basket case until I see her in my arms safe and sound and I sound like a total nutjob and well...yeah. People that know me realize that I am a nutjob, lol! It's going to be a crazy week all around, I'm getting stuff drawn and rendered and sewn and beaded in preparation for my artist alley at Manganext, which I hope to sell. Oh, and if you are going to be there at Manganext (www.manganext.org) feel free to drop by. Oh, and even though I'm not a lesbian I worked at Yuricon yesterday and it was fun :)

Well, a doll, anyway, lol!
I'm waiting and waiting and waiting. Gods know I shouldn't have bothered to buy her, being broke and all but she called to me...Cristal, a Volks limited edition SD-13 beauty. I actually won the lottery to buy her and now I've been waiting for a month to get her shipping notice from Volks. I'm downright antsy to get this beautiful doll, I feel like she'd make my little doll family that much more complete. Here's her picture:
I'm impatient...they say they'll start shipping at the end of September...
can you say obssession?

Life is funny sometimes...I just wanted to say that for some reason. I had a good day today, it was not especially productive or money-making or what have you. It was rich, in a way. Oh the weather was frightfully yuck this morning, but by the time I made my way to the garden state fiber festival it had turned into a glorious fall day. I love autumn. I love the smells and sights and everything about it, especially the cooler air.
I had convinced a very good friend of mine (someone that wanted to learn knitting, but I never had the time or the ability to teach her) to come to this fiberfest. We immediately signed up for the knitting workshop, I did it for the fun of it and to get yet more needles and yarn to add to my substantial collection, she did it to learn. While waiting for the class to begin, we perused all the wonderful vendors and pet a lot of the animals that were there. I didn't tell her this, but I knew there would be gorgeous angora rabbits there, there had to be knowing people lust after the lush yarn they can produce. I love seeing her handle small pets. She's just a beautiful person that adores the smaller animals. Her face lights up when she's cuddling a rabbit. I think that's why her husband encourages her to get a rabbit now that poor little Yoshi, her long-lived guinea pig, passed away last week. Anyway, the knitting class, taught by Bitsy Cohen, was a bunch of fun. Of course, I have a new knitting project to complete now, lol. I honestly hope she keeps up with her knitting. I love passing along my addictions. Another friend I have gotten into ball jointed dolls, lol! All in all, it was a lovely day.

My aunt is a bit nuts. Not in a good way like I am, but a really bad way. Like driving down to FL to a new house all the way from NJ. Not just that, oh no. She's traveling with 3 non-housebroken shitzus and a feral house cat. Oh, and the dogs are loose in the car. Not crated properly like my mother told her, loose. And already yapping their fool heads off. I can only hope she makes it down to FL in one piece. Because if she doesn't, I'm left to clean up the nightmare of a house she still has up here, LOL! Sigh.

Hi everyone (um...listening to crickets in air) well, I haven't posted in so long. An update that's big since my last post is I've started the unfortunate habit of collecting gorgeous asian ball jointed dolls. I've got three, 2 boys, and one centaur girl. Lucien and vanyel are pictured here during the first doll meet up I ever went to(Lucien's the one sitting)

and then a sweet little centaur named Misty

just came into my life. I'm still doing everything else, the 3d artwork, the working for Animenext, knitting and crochet and all that crap. I just wanted to say hi, still alive (mostly). I'll be back!
